How did the song – and those star performances – come together? Here’s what Katzman told EW:

I wrote the song ‘Buckwild Blindsides’ in my head as a joke while Hunter’s selection was going on. I remember sitting by the camp site and I was exhausted as everyone ran around the island pleading their case not to be voted on instead of giving their opinion. to move. So I started chanting ‘BLI to N to D, Blindside anyone but me’ as a mantra to keep chillin and keep crying.

“The whole experience was so overwhelming and crazy that the only way to get it out of the way when I got home was to put up this poppy. The survivor the sound of destructive metal drums. I had Kaleen from Mannequin Pussy rip the drums (big The survivor fan), and I beat Sarah Tudzin to sing because nobody delivers pop-punk snark better than illuminati hotties. Besides, we’ve been family since we were college dorm room neighbors, so why not split your number?

“Surprisingly, Kellie Nalbaddie ‘What is it, guys?’ The quote made famous by his blindness didn’t come into the picture until we were playing this song live and Kellie was in the audience. I dedicated the song to her while we were playing it live York and I gave him the mic when he finished and he repeated his old line. That’s when it hit me… It should be on the album again!

EW also caught up with Nalbandian about turning reality TV lemons into rock ‘n’ roll lemonade when he first entered the world of heavy music. He says: “I went to Ben’s concert in New York after the 46 finals. Little did I know he was going to ask me to jump into ‘Buckwild Blindsides.’ I was up front and Ben finished the song and handed me the mic. In a room full of fans of Ben and The survivor Fans, it was great to see the reaction to the introduction of “What the hell, guys?” singing live!”

You can see that magical moment where Nalbandian gave his phone call to the Mercury Lounge below.

About appearing on the album, Nalbandian tells EW that “I sent him my record called ‘What is it, guys?’ in different ways – with anger, sadness, and defeat – and he used his magic to add to it! It’s tongue-in-cheek to close the song, and I’m proud to have ‘What the hell, guys ? is remembered forever in the form of music.”
